McRae country

day 21 Monday morning 7 June
Our day in McRae country.

Inverinate from Ratagan across Loch Duich
We started with the Kintail cemetery [Kiel Duich] just across at the head of the loch at Shiel Bridge. It was the one I had a transcription of. I really did not visualise any of my locations as they turned out to be. Perhaps this was because it was early summer and everything was green and sunny.

Then we explored Conchra, a bit further down and across an arm of the loch from Eilean Donan and Dornie. The house there was the former gamekeeper’s lodge? We called in at the castle and had a look at the visitors centre but did not go in to the castle. The tourist buses were rolling in.

Then we drove on to Kyle and got some more food before going on to Plockton.
